An engineered timber transformation
We’re delighted to share our involvement in the development of The Barn Gallery in Hertfordshire - a carefully crafted conversion of existing garage into a private art space. Designed by Boano Prišmontas.
The project reimagines a modest structure as a contemporary barn, using CNC-cut plywood arches to form a striking new roof. We developed the structural design for the timber system, including a horizontal edge beam that resolves the thrust from the arches while protecting the existing walls and maintaining a clear, open interior.
It’s a great example of close collaborating between architects and engineers, combining digital fabrication with thoughtful structural strategy to create a calm and characterful gallery space.
