The Vihara takes shape on site

Construction is progressing well at The Vihara, the new monks’ accommodation at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery. Three months into the project, the five new timber accommodation blocks are beginning to take shape within the existing tree-lined landscape.

The project uses a lightweight, timber-first structural approach, designed to respond sensitively to the site while reducing embodied carbon and the amount of concrete required in the foundations. The timber frame, being delivered by Eden Insulation Ltd, is due to be installed shortly, marking the next exciting stage in bringing the design to life.
