Working with IF_DO and Hastings Commons, Simple Works provided structural engineering services for the refurbishment and transformation of Eagle House, a historic five-storey townhouse dating from the 1860s. Following years of alterations and decline, the building has been reimagined as a vibrant community hub and co-working space.
The project involved a range of structural interventions, including new and altered openings, the introduction of a new stair core, repairs to the existing lift shaft, and strengthening and repair of the roof structure. Careful investigation and assessment were undertaken to understand the existing building and identify opportunities for change while retaining as much of the historic fabric as possible.
Through targeted repairs and strengthening works, the project has successfully supported the building's long-term reuse, creating a revitalised space that now serves the local community.
